The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has raised the alarm over the growing impersonation of the agency on social media platforms, warning pensioners and stakeholders to beware of fraudulent accounts posing as officials of the Directorate.
PTAD said the development has prompted it to caution pensioners to interact only through its verified communication channels in order to avoid falling victim to online fraud and misinformation.
The Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya explained that some individuals have been creating fake social media accounts in the name of PTAD to mislead unsuspecting pensioners, stressing that the agency does not conduct official communication through unauthorised platforms.
According to her, pensioners seeking information on pension payments, verification exercises and other updates should rely strictly on the agency’s authenticated platforms.
She urged pensioners to remain vigilant and report suspicious accounts or messages claiming to represent PTAD, noting that engaging with unofficial platforms could expose retirees to fraud and misinformation.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi in a statement disclosed that its official handles include Facebook and Instagram under PTADNigeria, as well as X (formerly Twitter) and its official WhatsApp channel, where verified updates and pension-related information are shared with the public.
The statement read: “The verified platforms were created to ensure pensioners receive accurate information, important announcements and timely updates concerning pension administration.
“The Directorate reaffirms its commitment to retirees’ welfare and would continue to strengthen its communication channels to ensure that pensioners across the country have access to reliable information and are protected from fraudulent activities online”, he added.
