Life’s Good (LG) Electronics has unveiled a new product known as ‘dehumidifier’ to reduce humidity and curb air-borne diseases in homes and hospitals, among others.
A dehumidifier is an electrical appliance that removes excess moisture from the air to reduce and maintain humidity levels, preventing mold, mildew, and musty odours.
Humidity is the concentration of water vapour (an invisible gas) present in the air, indicating the likelihood of precipitation, dew, or fog.
Unveiling the product in Abuja on Wednesday, Olugbenga Ogunbayo, LG’s Product Expert, said the dehumidifier was designed to automatically detect and take out excess moisture in home environment.
Ogunbayo, also LG’s Master Trainer, West Africa, said the product was necessary in hospitals, churches and hotels for air purification, environment cleaning to make it free to certain extent of airborne diseases.
He said the dehumidifier which was energy saving, would also help to remove unpleasant odour in shoes.
Ogunbayo added that the product was relatively affordable for citizens to purchase in line with its quality, capacity and standard.
”We should understand that when you get to some homes you see some damp walls, wet space, some discomfort in breathing and that is why this dehumidifier is necessary for everybody, not only your private space.
”So with this dehumidifier you are good to go with your shoes.
“As much as I will say, for Nigerian market, this is essential because we have a lot of coastal areas, damp areas and most of the time you discover that your furniture gets some spots due to excess moisture.
”If you have been using the washing machine dryer to dry up your laundries and all, you could do this much more with the dehumidifier to dry your clothes and it consumes lesser energy,” he said.
Mr Paul Mba, the Head, Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics, Nigeria, said the company, in its quest to innovate, had manufactured the first smart dehumidifier into the country’s market.
Mba said the product would help to reduce allergies caused by vapour.
According to him, you will have what we call healthy air when you use the product.
”We all know that during the rainy season we have a lot of water vapour in the air and most times it tends to affect how we breathe.
”It tend to affect the amount of concentration and most times some people actually have allergies.
”You see them sneezing. That is when you have a lot of humidity in the air and that gave rise to why LG decided to introduce this smart dehumidifier into the Nigerian market.
”We believe that this product will likely go a long way in meeting so many demands across our homes,” he said.
Adham Alsa’adi, Marketing Manager of Fouani Nigeria Limited, said the product was a smart solution toward addressing humidity challenges in homes and other places.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the product, which has two sizes, is sold for between N500,000 and N400,000.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
