Kano Agency Strengthens Partnership To Improve Child Survival, Access To Healthcare
The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) and the Integrated Child Survival Advocacy at the Last-Mile (ICSA), have reaffirmed commitments to improving child survival, and primary healthcare delivery.
The Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr Rahila Aliyu-Muktar, stated this during an advocacy visit by the ICSA delegation to the agency in Kano.
Aliyu-Muktar commended ICSA for its structured, data-driven and community-centred advocacy approach, describing the initiative as critical to improving healthcare outcomes in the state.
She said the agency remained committed to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare services through innovative health financing and inclusive coverage of vulnerable groups.
According to her, collaboration with development partners and advocacy groups remains essential in strengthening healthcare delivery, accountability and community participation.
“Partnerships like this are key to achieving Universal Health Coverage and improving health outcomes, especially for women and children across the state,” she said.
Earlier, the ICSA State Team Lead, Dayyabu Muhammad, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration to ensure equitable access to quality primary healthcare services, particularly at the grassroots.
Muhammad said ICSA’s advocacy model focused on community engagement, accountability and evidence-based policy dialogue.
He stressed the need for sustained investment in primary healthcare systems, improved budgetary allocation, timely release of funds and stronger oversight at both state and Local Government Area levels.
He added that ICSA interventions were designed to amplify community voices through field-based evidence and stakeholder engagement to ensure that policy decisions addressed real service delivery challenges.
Muhammad noted that aligning advocacy efforts with government priorities was essential to achieving sustainable impact in maternal, newborn and child healthcare.
He said both organisations agreed to identify practical areas of collaboration, particularly in strengthening last-mile advocacy, integrating communication strategies and supporting ongoing reforms in the primary healthcare sector.
