The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Jabi, Prof. Saad Ahmed, has received the 2026 CSOs Budget Implementation Assessment Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (CBIAMEC) Excellence Award for public health leadership and infrastructure transformation.
Amb. Splendour Agbonkpolor, Chairman of the CBIAMEC disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
Agbonkpolor said the award followed an independent assessment of public institutions and was aimed at recognising leaders whose policies translate into measurable impact on citizens.
He said a video compendium showcasing Ahmed’s achievements and scorecard at FMC Jabi was played before he received the CBIAMEC Man of the Year 2026 Meritorious Excellence Award.
According to him, Ahmed was selected for his commitment to accessible and quality healthcare, as well as efforts in repositioning FMC Jabi as a reference point for tertiary healthcare in the Federal Capital Territory.
Agbonkpolor said the committee noted major infrastructural upgrades under Ahmed’s leadership, including modernisation of clinical facilities, expansion of specialised care units and deployment of advanced medical equipment.
He added that the improvements had enhanced patient outcomes and strengthened public confidence in the hospital.
The chairman also highlighted staff capacity development and operational reforms as factors contributing to improved service delivery at the centre.
“Your leadership consistently reflects professionalism, integrity and dedication to national development.
“A major factor in the award was the hospital’s transparent and accountable implementation of allocated funds in line with national fiscal guidelines,” he said.
Agbonkpolor described FMC Jabi’s financial management system as a benchmark for public health administration in Nigeria.
He said CBIAMEC’s independent assessment established a clear connection between leadership decisions at FMC Jabi and improvements in infrastructure, healthcare delivery and patient-centred care.
According to him, Ahmed’s record at the centre reflects the standard of innovation and service the organisation seeks to promote across public institutions nationwide. (NAN)
