Custody dispute: Davido mistakes gospel singer Tosin Bee for lawyer’s son

Afrobeats star Davido’s custody dispute with his estranged partner, Sophia Momodu, escalated online after the singer mistakenly directed criticism at the wrong individual.

The development followed a courtroom exchange between Davido and lawyer Ebelechukwu Enedah, who represents Momodu. The disagreement reportedly centred on references to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, during proceedings.

In an Instagram post, Davido criticised Enedah’s conduct. However, in the process, he reposted content from Nigerian gospel artiste Tosin Bee, assuming a connection between the singer and the lawyer.

Davido wrote, “And she has a son. Tosin you will live long amen with the rubbish you dey sing… Useless people.”

Tosin Bee subsequently issued a clarification, stating that he had no knowledge of the matter and no link to the legal dispute. 

Tosin Bee quickly clarified the mix-up, stating, “Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago.

The incident has since generated widespread discussion across social media platforms, with observers noting the risks of misidentification in heated public disputes.

“I guess this is a case of mistaken identity. So sorry you had to deal with this, but my prayers are with you. I love you brother”.
