Away teams dominate NWFL Matchday 3 fixtures

Away teams took centre stage on Matchday 3 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), producing dominant performances and impressive results across the country on Wednesday.

At the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, Edo Queens inflicted Ekiti Queens’ first home defeat of the season with a slender 1–0 victory. Atune Doosur’s 65^th -minute strike proved decisive for the Benin-based side.

In Umuahia, Nasarawa Amazons maintained their strong early-season form, securing a comfortable 2–0 win over Ahudiyannem Queens. Ohunene Sunday opened the scoring two minutes into the second half, while Peaceful Ikediuba added a late second to seal the points.

Remo Stars Ladies also impressed on their travels, beating Confluence Queens 2–0. Anifowoshe Khadijat struck in the 12th minute to give the visitors the lead, before Similoluwa Okesiji completed the job with a stoppage-time effort.

The only home team to claim victory was Abia Angels, who eased past Osun Babes 2–0. Winner David struck in the 16th minute and Blessing Okon doubled the advantage shortly after to secure all three points.

In Yola, Adamawa Queens edged Ibom Angels 1–0 courtesy of a 16th-minute goal from Ifeoma Damian, while Rivers Angels produced a spirited comeback in Ibadan to defeat Pacesetters Queens 2–1. Grace Saliu put the visitors ahead early, but Teslimot Balogun levelled for the hosts before Ramotalahi Kareem restored the lead five minutes before halftime.

With five away wins recorded across six fixtures, Matchday 3 undoubtedly belonged to the visiting teams, who showcased their quality and resilience on the road.
