In a bid to strengthen community health awareness and expand philanthropic activities across Lagos State, the Northern People Political Group (NPPG) has sought support from the Lagos State Government to provide inclusive local healthcare initiatives. The NPPG Southwest Zone, led by national leader Hajiya Ramat Lawal, visited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s office at Alausa, Ikeja, to present the group’s operational strategy and explore ways to collaborate with the state on grassroots development. The delegation included Lagos Zonal Chairman Alhaji Dahiru Musa and Secretary Alhaji Ahmed Tijani.
During the visit, Hajiya Ramat emphasised that the NPPG is a grassroots-focused organisation committed to building hope, unity, and progress in local communities. She highlighted the group’s free healthcare programmes, which include blood pressure and diabetes screening, vaccination awareness, maternal-child health education, and community outreach in underserved areas. “Our goal is to ensure that no citizen is left behind in accessing essential healthcare services,” Hajiya Ramat said. “Partnering with the government will amplify our impact and sustain these programmes over the long term.”
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, commended the group for its proactive approach, noting that their efforts complement the state’s initiatives to improve healthcare accessibility and community engagement. “The dedication of Hajiya Ramat and the NPPG demonstrates leadership that aligns perfectly with the government’s grassroots mobilisation efforts,” he said.
Akinmade added that the Lagos State Government is committed to working closely with community organisations to expand healthcare services, enhance public health awareness, and ensure that interventions reach the most vulnerable populations.
Alhaji Dahiru Musa reiterated the group’s pledge to leverage its network for effective outreach, stating, “Our volunteers are dedicated to providing tangible benefits to citizens, from medical check-ups to preventive health education.”
For Lagos residents, particularly those in low-income communities, NPPG’s interventions fill critical gaps in access to healthcare. By partnering with the state, the group aims to scale programmes effectively, promote health literacy, and encourage community participation in wellness initiatives. The visit marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between grassroots organisations and government, highlighting the potential of coordinated efforts to improve public health outcomes in Lagos State.
