2027: I did not threaten to teach President Tinubu a lesson- Abia Deputy Governor

Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetumah has dismissed the false reports where he was quoted as saying that Abia State government will teach President Bola a bitter lesson for detaining IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The publication by a media house was titled “2027: Abia State Govt Will Teach Tinubu A Bitter Lesson Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention — Deputy Governor Emetu.”
But reacting to the report, the Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu said the statements attributed to him are entirely false, fabricated, and a deliberate misrepresentation of his views.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Cyril Chukwudi Eke Mba, the Abia State Deputy Governor said the report in question lacked verifiable context, and fails to provide essential media attributes such as the date, venue, or occasion where such remarks were allegedly made.
The Chief Press Secretary said that no official event, interview, press briefing, or public engagement existed where the Deputy Governor issued the quoted statements.
“At no time did the Deputy Governor threaten to “teach” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or any member of his family a “bitter political lesson,” nor did he make the reckless remarks credited to him concerning the 2027 general elections or the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.
The statement noted that the matter of Nnamdi Kanu remains a sensitive national issue that evokes strong emotions among many citizens, stressing that the Deputy Governor has consistently maintained that such concerns should be addressed through lawful, constitutional, and dialogue-driven processes.
He further expressed worry that a media platform would publish such weighty allegations without verifying or directly confirming from the Office of the Deputy Governor, adding that such fabricated and unethical quotations were capable of heightening political tension and misleading the public.
The Deputy Governor demanded immediate retraction of the publication and a unreserved apology.
