Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has expressed confidence in the future of Afrobeats, allaying fears that the genre might be heading to relegation on the global stage.
Speaking in a recent interview with Yaw on Wazobia FM Lagos, the African Queen crooner argued that contrary to some negative predictions, Afrobeats won’t fall off the global stage.
He noted that the endless pool of young talents in the country ensures continuity, noting that young artists are the lifeblood of Afrobeats.
2Face said, “Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young Afrobeats artists now, you will agree with me that the genre is in safe hands.
“Recently, one of the young artists, Fola, remade my song ‘If Love Is A Crime.’ I really loved it. Soft, smooth vocals. It is amazing. The present crops of artists have special flows. I love their styles.”
