- Legend Internet wins award
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) has highlighted the contribution of newly listed companies to the bullish overall market performance.
At its NGX Made of Africa Awards ceremony, which honours companies and individuals that play prominent roles in the market within the particular year, the NGX stated that newly listed companies made significant contributions to the depth and momentum of the market in 2025.
Citing the performance of Legend Internet Plc, which was listed on the main board of the Exchange April 24, 2025, the NGX stated that newly listed companies have helped to diversify investment opportunities and opening up the market to new sectors of the economy.
Legend Internet, which operates at the forefront of last-mile fibre-optic broadband infrastructure, including FTTH and FTTR, alongside a growing portfolio of complementary digital services, was awarded ‘Market Debut Excellence Award’ at the awards ceremony.
Chief Executive Officer, Legend Internet Plc, Aisha Abdulaziz, said the award underscored the strength of Legend’s entry into the public markets and reflected growing confidence in the company’s strategic direction, governance standards, and long-term growth potential.
According to her, the award is not only a significant corporate achievement, but also a strong validation of the trust placed in Legend by its investors and partners since its listing.
She added that the recognition signaled that Legend’s market trajectory aligned with the highest benchmarks within Africa’s capital markets.
She described the achievement as a collective milestone, emphasising that the company’s successful debut has been driven by disciplined execution, transparency, and a commitment to innovation.
She pointed out that the award further reinforced Legend’s focus on sustainable expansion and value creation for shareholders.
“We are truly delighted to receive this award. It reflects the hard work of our team and our unwavering commitment to excellence. More importantly, it serves as both recognition and responsibility, a mandate to sustain this momentum, continue pushing boundaries, and consistently deliver value for our stakeholders in the years ahead,” Abdulaziz said.
Analysts at Custom Street noted that with this recognition, the market has not only observed a successful listing by Legend, but also the rise of a new benchmark within the NGX telecommunications services sub-sector.
They noted that the award was an important endorsement of its public-market performance and corporate strategy. They said the Market Debut Excellence Award represented a strong foundation for the company’s next phase of growth, as Legend remains committed to improving the lives of Nigerians through innovative connectivity and digital solutions.
