Lagos APC UK chapter reaffirms support for Tinubu, swears in new executives

The Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress in the United Kingdom (APC UK) at the weekend held its End-of-Year Dinner in Bromley, London, bringing together party leaders, executives and members in a show of unity, reflection and renewed political commitment.

The well-attended event featured music and brought together party chieftains from all walks of life. 

They threw their weight behind the administration’s of President Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos State. 

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Lagos State APC UK, Hon. Tayo Shodeinde appreciated party leaders and members for their steadfast loyalty and active participation in strengthening the APC in the diaspora.

According to a statement from the Secretariat of the party, Hon Shodehinde reiterated the chapter’s pride in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the remarkable developmental progress being recorded under Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which he described as “second to none.”

Also, the Chairman of APC UK and Chairman of the Diaspora Forum, Hon. Tunde Doherty, delivered a paper titled “The Impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Diaspora.” 

Doherty outlined how the administration’s policies are reshaping diaspora engagement, investment opportunities and national image abroad. 

He noted that Nigerians in the diaspora have a critical role to play in supporting governance reforms and national development initiatives.

Similarly Hon Felix Ajayi who delivered the first keynote address on the topic “The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: What It Means and the Progress in Lagos State,” noted the policy direction of the Tinubu administration and its implications for governance, economic stability and national development. 

He highlighted Lagos State as a model of continuity and performance, noting that the reforms and infrastructural growth in the state clearly reflect the broader vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ajayi further commended Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for sustaining developmental momentum in critical sectors such as transportation, housing, health and education. 

He urged APC members in the diaspora to remain consistent advocates of the party’s achievements and to continue engaging constructively in national development from abroad.

A party chieftain, Dr Philip Edewor, spoke on politics in general, drawing from past experiences and highlighting the challenges facing political organisation and participation.

He emphasised the need for discipline, unity and strategic thinking within party structures, especially among diaspora chapters, to ensure long-term relevance and impact.

A major highlight of the event was the swearing-in of two executive members into the Lagos State APC UK leadership. 

Hon Alhaja Gbemisola Ademola was officially sworn in as Women Leader, while Hon Alhaja Aolat Tomi Sule was sworn in as Vice Chairwoman, Central. 

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Hon Ladi Vera Cruz, drawing applause from party members who described the development as a boost to inclusiveness and organisational strength within the chapter. 

The event was attended by several prominent party leaders and executives, including Tunde Doherty, APC UK Chairman and Chairman of the Diaspora Forum; Dr. Philip Edewor, former APC UK Chairman and former Chairman of the Diaspora Forum; Dr. and Mrs. David Orimaye, former Ekiti State Chairman; Hon. Felix Ajayi; Elder David Olukoga; Hon. Ladi Vera Cruz; Hon. Muyiwa Adesua, Vice Chairman, APC UK; Pastor Magret Apoeso, Women Leader, South West; Honourable Taiwo Jegunmah, APC Women Leader; Eric Ayoola, former Pioneer Secretary, Afenifere Renewal Group; and Chief Yemi Odetola, Chairman, Afenifere Renewal Group.

Also in attendance were APC UK executives, including Hon Tunde Ajisola and Hon Ayokunle.
