Actress Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has lost the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, presidential election.
Rita lost her bid for the position in an election conducted on Saturday during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State.
She was defeated by the AGN National Secretary, actor Abubakar Yakubu, who succeeded Emeka Rollas as the Guild’s President.
Yakubu secured 116 votes to edge out Rita who got 113 votes, with three ballots declared void.
Yakubu’s victory makes him the first Northern actor to lead AGN since its establishment in 1990s.
This came a few weeks after Emeka Rollas who claimed that Regina Daniels needs help, advised Rita to prioritise her daughter’s well-being rather than contesting the AGN elections.
