Jigawa PDP suspends party chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended the Chairman of its Birnin Kudu Local Government Chapter, Alhaji Lukman Wurno, over alleged misconduct.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the party’s Local Government Secretary, Alhaji Lawan Ahmed.
According to the statement, the decision followed allegation of misconduct against the chairman. The party also directed Wurno to immediately stop parading himself as the PDP Local Government Chairman.
In the interim, the chapter has endorsed Alhaji Ibrahim Maigida Halimbe to serve as Acting Chairman pending further directives.
The statement noted that the action was taken in line with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures to safeguard unity and discipline within the chapter.
It stressed that the leadership remains committed to upholding transparency and accountability at all levels.
Party officials in the area have called on members to remain calm and continue to support the PDP’s activities in Birnin Kudu, assuring them that necessary steps are being taken to strengthen the party structure ahead of 2027 general election.
